Development Awareness Fund

Financial assistance is available for projects with a commitment to meet the internationally agreed target to halve the proportion of people living in extreme poverty by 2015.
The Fund is open to any UK-based organisation or network which shares the DFID's commitment to raising awareness and understanding of development issues and has the capability to account properly for any DFID funds received.
Applications should aim to meet at least one of the programme's four key objectives and will give priority to projects working with new partnerships rather than funding existing partners with projects entering a second phase. Proposals will be assessed against the following criteria:
  • Adherence to one or more DAF objectives.
  • Clearly defined and measurable project outcomes.
  • Clear evidence of need for the project.
  • Robust project design.
  • Quality of proposed project management.
  • Whether the organisation has the capability to implement the project.
  • Value for money.
  • Plans for sustaining the project after funding ends.
The deadline for receipt of Concept Notes is 25 September 2009, and the deadline for full proposals is 30 November 2009. Funding for successful projects will be from April 2010.
