Have you the time to spare to befriend and take out a young person currently caring for others in their family in West Sussex?
If you like young people you could make a big difference to their lives. This is a fantastic opportunity to help a young person aged from 8 to 21 years old to have a break from their caring role, to relax and have some fun. We ask you to volunteer with us for at least a year, going out fortnightly (a max. 8 hours a month) with the young person to offer fun, friendship and support. Visits can include going for a hot chocolate and a chat in town or bowling or horse-riding.
In return, we offer training, regular support and expenses. There is a formal application process which includes enhanced police checks, references and interviews. If you feel you could help support a young carer and become a befriender; please contact Penny Mitchell, Young Carers Befriending Project at Spurgeons.
