Every B&Q store is striving to be a 'good neighbour' by forming partnerships within its local community. B&Q operates a waste donation scheme through all stores. This scheme allows donation of waste materials, for example slightly damaged tins of paint, off-cuts of timber, odd rolls of wallpaper and end of range materials, to community groups, charities and schools. The waste donation scheme is co-ordinated in store either by the environmental champion, duty or Warehouse manager who will keep a Waste Donation Form on file for interested groups. Before any materials are donated, the form must be signed by a representative of the group. Please note that it is company policy that health and safety is taken into consideration, therefore electrical, petrol and gas items are not available for donation. Any waste or surplus stock donated must not be re-sold www.diy.com/diy/jsp/corporate/
Attached is the West Sussex Prevention & Wellbeing Programme Commissioning Intentions 2012-2016 from WSCC and NHS Sussex. The commissioning, which is based on supporting people to remain independent in their homes, will focus on the following five areas:
A full timetable of commissioning for each service is provided in the attached document.
Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group - Work around the Frail & Elderly
CCVS is monitoring the progress of Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) priorities, which centre on the frail elderly, and which aim to reduce hospital admissions amongst this group particularly. This work provides important and current opportunities for voluntary and community organisations in Crawley to explore working together to: give an accurate picture of existing services in the town which feed into Crawley CCG priorities; and to potentially design and deliver future commissioned services. If you are interested in being part of a group exploring partnership working further, particularly if you are a small organisation that would struggle to bid for upcoming commissioning opportunities on your own, please get in touch to express your interest www.crawleycvs.org

Dear colleagues,
Despite continued financial support from West Sussex County Council, Mid Sussex District Council, East Grinstead Town Council and other local organisations, East Grinstead Council for Voluntary Service, in common with all charities, has suffered from a reduction in income over the last few years.
EG CVS Trustees have had to make difficult decisions regarding the work which the CVS is able to undertake on reduced resources.
From 1st May, therefore, EG CVS will not open on Fridays. The new CVS office hours will be 9.30 - 12.30pm, Monday - Thursday. An answerphone will operate at other times and staff will respond to messages when they are in the office.
EG CVS intends to continue to offer a full range of services to its member groups, and to our local communities, albeit with reduced resources. We ask for your patience if we are unable to deal with your enquiry immediately.
Elizabeth Peel,
Chairman, East Grinstead Council for Voluntary Service,
On behalf of all EG CVS Trustees
The Hate Incident Support Service has recently launched an Easy Read Form to encourage the reporting of Disability Hate Crime in West Sussex. This is when a crime has occurred because of the victim's perceived or actual disability.
The support service hope that those affected by this type of hate crime will use the form to report these incident so they do not continue to suffer in silence. Helen Ranasinghe, the Service Delivery Manager, says that 'This type of hate crime is hugely under reported in West Sussex which we know through speaking with disability community groups across the county. Often victims of these types of crime feel unable to report these incidents due to fearing that nothing will be done about the situation. Sometimes other people such as friends and carers know it is happening yet choose to do nothing about it'. It is hoped that the new Easy Read form will mean that people do not have to rely on somebody else to report an incident as the person can fill out a form themselves.
The Hate Incident Support Service is independent of the police, but will work closely with them if consent of the person reporting the crime is provded. The service can be contacted directly by:
