National Play Day 2011

WSCVYS is pleased to announce a National Play Day 2011 funding opportunity in West Sussex.

Please complete the funding application by Wednesday 13 July 2011. Successful bids will be confirmed w/c 18 July 2011 and funds will be available before your event.


Top Tips


1. Check spelling and grammar on the PC
2. Get someone else to read the application from outside the organisation
3. Cut excessive use of jargon
4. Don’t waffle
5. Don’t assume that the assessor will know what you do
6. If you are quoting statistics or information put a reference as to where they came from


Cooking Workshops

A local parent with a background in cooking professionally had been offering her time to local schools delivering cooking activity workshops to local children. In the main this activity had received no external funding; however donations of food were made by a local supermarket.


Various Heritage and Historical Groups in Worthing

Several groups with similar interests in Worthing were seeking help with funding and attracting new recruits, but not wanting to compete with each other.

Outreach work for drug dependency and addiction

This organistion specifically wanted help with a potential venue for housing this project and to look at some potential funding. I met with the volunteer project leader to discuss their needs and requirements.

I encountered structural uncertainties with consitution and no bank account as such. I guided the leader to appropriate policies and gave her a Business Plan Template.


The Arts and Health Project Development Fund

The Arts and Health Development Fund has been set up to enable development/implementation of new and exisiting arts and health activity in West Sussex.


Big Lottery launches Community Wildlife Programme

Big Lottery Fund's new programme for projects that bring local people together to discover, enjoy and protect the wildlife in their local area.

The programme is now open to a wide range of organisations including voluntary and community organisations, schools, town and parish councils, and statutory health authorities. Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available for:


Chandlers Building Supplies Community Fund

Chandlers Building Supplies in Petworth has teamed up with the Observer series to launch a Community Fund campaign.

The Chandlers team wants to give something back to the community and every month for the rest of the year will be giving away £500 to local organisations who need a bit of help.
